Detailed Product Description
Glass-Fiber (material code: FG)
Fiberglass is used for depth pre-filtration purposes, being usually installed before the membrane to be protected, to extend its life. These filters are manufactured with homogenous glass fibers with or without binder. Two different thickness grades are available, according to the contamination load of the liquid to be filtered: Fine (FFG) and Thick (GFG).
FFG has an average thickness of 0,55 mm and a nominal retention rate of 1-1,5 mm. Water flow rate at a differential pressure of 14,25 psi is approximately 320 ml/min/cm2. GFG is approx. 1.55 mm thick, and has a flow rate for water similar to FFG. Both types are autoclavable at 121°C, and can withstand temperatures up to 220°C.
Chemical compatibility is quite ample, being stable to all organic solvents except acetonitrile. When used for protection on top of a membrane in the same filter holder, the FG pre-filter should have a smaller diameter than the membrane, in order to assure that the filter holder seals precisely on the membrane.
Available diameters: 13; 25; 44; 47; 90; 130; 142; 257; 279 and 293 mm.
Fields of use: As protection for membranes; as clarifying filters, as support in weighing methods to determine humidity.
